LOCATION

Geography:

Dina Huapi is a beautiful village on the shore of Nahuel Huapi lake, in the province of Rio Negro, between the rivers Limay and Ñirihuau. Founded on the 25th of November 1986, this village is located in the east of Nahuel Huapi National Park. For that reason the inhabitants are guards of this legacy.

The name Dina Huapi was given in honour of the 2 Danish men (Mr. Cristian Hansen and Mr. Jose Brendstrup) who ,originally, were the owners of these lands (in Spanish we say Dinamarqués instead of Danish, and from this word the short form is "Dina"); and "Huapi" is a Mapuche word (Mapuches were the native people) and means "island".

Dina Huapi has a stable population of 7.000 and it is only 12km from San Carlos de Bariloche.
